May 4, 2009: The Vudoos first meeting with the Red Dogs brought an end to the 3 game win streak. Goalie Pete Peterson put on a 3rd period show that had to bee seen. However this show was not in goal. After being struck in the face with a stick after a whistle Pete tossed his helmet off and gave pursuit on the Red Dogs player throwing his blocker and a puck in what can only be described as 'in the general direction of the player', because he was no where close to hitting him. After it was all settled down, Pete was given 16 minutes in penalties, and Greg Brand was given a game Misconduct for verbally abusing the official. In the end, the Vudoos were defeated 4-2. The Vudoos did not make the championship win easy for them, and played far better hockey against the Puck Pimps than during the regular season. Spring season starts early April and the Vudoos will see some new faces in the lineup for Spring. Thank you all for a great season, it was a lot of fun as usual. For those not playing Spring League, we will see you in September.
March 26, 2009: Goals from JR Booth, Gary Len, and 2 from Kurt Seidel were not enough as the Vudoos dropped game 1 of the finals to the Puck Pimps 7-4. The Vudoos found them selves in a 4-0 hole and battled back and were were within a goal of tying it. Two late goals from the Puck Pimps sealed the Vudoo loss 7-4. March 8, 2009: The first playoff game of the season went all the way to 1:49 remaining in the third overtime to be decided. The Vudoos emerged as the winners 3-2 in a hard fought, well played game. Tom Godon put the Vudoos on top with 3:54 left in the first, this goal came as a result of a strong forecheck by pork Bothers, who pressured the puck and got it to Godon in the slot who slid it past the River Rats goaltender. Godon added his second of the game with 4:17 remaining in the first period off another pass from Booth. Those first period goals ended up being the only goals scored in the game as the Vudoos defeated the Sewer Rats 2-0. It appears that the Vudoos are now experiencing the "Inverse Reverse Curse" as they have won two out of their last three, and Fred Hoth was not playing in either if the two wins! The Vudoos ended the regular season at 13 wins and 11 losses. The Vudoos were also 4 for 4 in Shootout wins, with three of the shootout winners coming from Gary Len and the other from Tom Godon. The big difference in this game was the Vudoos skated well for the entire game, & forced turnovers with a strong forecheck and backcheck. It was a well played game by all. Next game is Sunday January 25th at 9:50pm vs. The Rink Rats. Let's take the Rats down in honor of jesse!
January 15, 2009: In a last hour substitution, Jesse Peterson played goal in place of his dad Pete Peterson. After a rough first period, Jesse was able to settle in and only allow 2 goals in the second period, and earned a third period shutout. The Vudoos lost this one 9-1. Although it was a big loss, we need to thank Jesse for stepping up. Jesse has not played goalie in close to 10 years, and had never played on ice before.

Gary was simply pulling one of the three Perch players off of Michael Booth during the scuffle, but somehow received a 5 minute high sticking penalty, and a game misconduct. Things settled down after that, but not in the goal scoring department. The game was a seesaw battle to the end. Michael Booth lead the Vudoos with three goals and two assists, there were 4 other Vudoo players with a multi point game including Greg Brand who scored the eventual game winner off a rebound with 3:15 remaining in the game. The 8-6 win gave the Vudoos 16 points on the season and moved them into a tie for first place with the Puck Pimps. The next game is Sunday December 14th at 9:40pm against The Puck Pimps.

Tom Godon added the second Vudoo goal on a screen shot along the ice with 3:09 remaining in the second period. Pat Morrison scored in his second straight game with 11:08 left in the 3rd period. The Vudoos moved the puck well all game, and the forward provided a strong backcheck to help the defense and goalie. With this win the Vudoos improve the season record to 6-2, including 3 shootout wins in 3 chances. Next Game is Friday November 14th at 10:25pm vs. Puck Pimps.
November 4, 2008: The Sewer Rats struck early with goals :31 apart, Pete was screened on both and never had a chance. Michael responded near the halfway mark with an unassisted goal. I the second, Tom T., mike and J.R. combined to tie the game at 2, the play featured a brilliant pass from Mike and a great finish by J.R. With :15 left on clock Pat unloaded a shot from just outside the blue line, which handcuffed the goalie putting the Vudoos up 3-2. At 7:38 of the 3rd, the Sewer Rats scored on a bad angle shot from the corner after a wild scramble in front to tie the game. 8 seconds later Mike scored, what would prove to be the game winner, with the Vudoos holding on for the win. After giving up the first two, Pete put up wall in goal, keeping us in the game. The game also featured great penalty killing with the Vudoos only giving up one shot in the Rat power play attempts.
October 19, 2008: Gary Len scored the Vudoos first goal late in the 1st period, but the Rink Rats scored to tie it just 17 seconds later. The Rats added two more in the second period. The Vudoos entered the third period down 3-1. After a scuffle in front of the Vudoo goal half way through the third period, the Vudoos called a time out to get their head back in the game. With 3:33 remaining Tom Godon scored on a breakaway off an outlet pass from Jim Schwanda, putting the Vudoo within 1. With under a minute remaining the Vudoos pulled the goalie and Jason Simon stepped on the ice and skated right to a rebound and fired it past the Rink Rat goalie to tie the game with just 36 seconds remaining. Gary Len scored the only shootout goal, as Vudoo goalie Pete Peterson denied all three of he Rats shooters, giving the Vudoos their 3rd 4-3 shootout win of the season. Next game is Tuesday November 4th at 11:00pm.
October 11, 2008: A communication error resulted in the Vudoos not having a goalie for this one. RAT stepped up and played goalie for most of the game, Greg Brand played a short time once his skate blade cracked. Greg was later pulled after the skate blade fell off! Combined our non-goalie goalies saved 21 of 21 shots, as a VERY short bench took it's toll in the second half of the game and the Vudoos were out hustled. Michael Booth scored all three Vudoo goals, including an impressive shot from his knees. The final score was Sewer Rats 5 Vudoos 3. Next game is Sunday October 19th - 9:40pm vs. Rink Rats.
October 5, 2008: This game against the OOFF! should have been an easier victory than it was. The OOFF! found themselves with only 6 skaters and a substitute goalie. A substitute goalie with a good glove hand, stopping many of what looked to be Vudoo goals. The Vudoos fell behind 1-0 in the first period. JR Booth scored three and a half minutes into the second period to tie the game at 1 all. Michael Booth scored just 2 and a half minutes into the third, but the OFF! came back and scored tying the game at 2-2. Just one minute 14 seconds later Jason Simon scored putting the Vudoos up 3-2. With 4:02 remaining in the game the OFF! tied it at 3 all forcing the Vudoos to their second straight shoot-out. After the first OFF! shooter was stopped by Pete, Gary Len narrowly missed off the OOFF! goalie's glove and then the crossbar. The second OOFF! shooter was stopped as well. Tom Godon tried to tuck the puck past the OOFF! goalie's right pad on his attempt but was denied. The next OOFF! shooter scored, but Michael Booth came right back and tied it up forcing a sudden death shootout. The first OOFF! scooter missed, as did Michael. The second OOFF! shooter missed as well. Tom Godon scored top shelf over a sprawling OOFF! goalie to give the Vudoos their second straight shootout win. Next Game - Saturday October 11th at 9:10pm vs. Sewer Rats.
September 28, 2008: After a hard fought 0-0 first period, Michael Booth opened the scoring early in second. The Rats didn’t allow us to savor the lead scoring twice to go up 2-1. Jason Simon scored on a breakaway to even the score at 2. Things got a little crazy in the late in the second, when J.R. felt that Michael might be lonely in the penalty box, leading to the rare Father/Son double minor. The Rats pulled ahead early in the second, but the Vudoos answered with Booths second of the night off a great pass from PORK. Pete was excellent in goal for the third straight game stopping 30 of 33, and shutting down the Rats in the third to keep the game tied. In the shootout, after Pete stopped the first two Rat shooters, Gary Len scored what proved to be the winning goal in the shootout. NEXT GAME....It's BSA so we don't have a schedule yet!
September 21, 2008: Pork got the first goal of the game at 11:06 of the first period off his own rebound. With Evelyn in the "crowd" there was just no way he was not going to put the puck past the goalie on this one. The Puck Pimps scored the next two putting the Vudoos down 2-1. With 55 seconds in the second period, Tom Godon scored tying the game at 2. The Vudoos were just 13 seconds away from their first chance at a shootout when the Puck Pimps slipped one past Pete Peterson handing the Vudoos a 3-2 loss. Next Game is Sunday September 28th at 8:40pm vs. Rink Rats.
September 7, 2008: The Vudoos started off the 2008-2009 Fall season with a 5-2 win against the Mighty Perch. The Vudoos got off to a slow start and fell behind 1-0 at 8:41 of the first period. Jason Simon tied it at 1 with a short handed goal at 13:57 of the second period. Yes, we were all surprised that it took RAT until the second period to get his first penalty of the season! The Perch scored with 4:07 remaining in the second period, but Gary Len tied it at 2 all with 1:58 remaining in the second. The Perch had only 5 skaters and controlled the slow pace of the game until late in the third period when the Vudoos erupted for three unanswered goals. Ron Rizzo scored the game winner with 3:27 remaining, the JR Booth scored just 11 seconds later. Michael Booth sealed the win with 2:15 remaining in the game giving the Vudoos the victory. NEXT GAME: Sunday September 21st at 7:15pm vs. Puck Pimps.
June 30, 2008: After falling behind 3-0, George Dimock scored off Tom Godon's rebound with 1:22 left in the first period. The Vudoos scored two more unanswered goals in the second period tying the game at 3. The Vudoos scored again on a deflection, but it was ruled NO GOAL because the referees did not see it go in. There was no scoring in the third period, forcing the game to go to overtime. In the OT period there was a major collision that resulted in a shaken up and injured Vudoo goalie, and a fight between Michael Booth, Chris Melchione and two OOFF! players, Booth, Melchione, and the two OOFF! players received 5 minute penalties, and a game misconduct. With just 1:44 remaining in the first OT period after a scramble in front, the OOFF! slid one under a sprawled out Pete Peterson for the game winner. The Vudoos played a great game, and a great series, and took it as far as you can without winning it all.
June 29, 2008: After a scoreless first period, Michael Booth scored just 50 seconds into the second period putting the Vudoos up 1-0. The OFF! answered back 25 seconds later tying the game at 1 all. The OOFF! scored again with 7:32 remaining in the game putting the Vudoos down 2-1. With 5:19 remaining the Vudoos found new life on a rocket of a shot from Gary Len, beating the OOFF! goalie to tie the game at 2. Then 26 seconds later Michael Booth scored again on a breakaway, Michael was able to fight off an OOFF! player and somehow slip the puck past the goalie to put the Vudoos up 3-2. With 55 seconds remaining the OOFF! pulled their goalie for an extra attacker. Tom Godon blocked a slap shot from the blue line and took the puck all the way down for an empty net goal to seal the win with just 20 seconds remaining. Vudoo goalie Pete Peterson had a fantastic game stopping several OOFF! breakaways to keep the Vudoos in the game all night. Game 3 is Monday June 30th - 9:45pm.
June 26, 2008: After falling behind 3-1, the Vudoos battled back to tie the game at 3 on a power play goal with 2:55 remaining. After 5 minutes of 5 on 5 overtime, the game moved on to a 4 on 4 second overtime period. The OOFF! scored on a power play 49 seconds into the second overtime handing the Vudoos a well fought loss in game one. GAME 2: Sunday June 29th - 7:00pm.
June 23, 2008: The Vudoos put away the Puck Pimps with a 7-3 win in a penalty filled game. The Puck Pimps took a total of 15 penalties including a game misconduct. But even with all the power plays including 2 5 on 3's, the Vudoos did not score a power play goal, but did manage two short handed goals. The Vudoos were no saints in this one taking 6 penalties as well. Including a third man in 10 minute misconduct to Antonio Figueroa, putting himself at the top of the PIM stats for the playoffs. The finals begin on Thursday June 26th at 9:45pm vs. OOFF!
June 16,
2008:
The
Vudoos easily handled the Rink Rats in this first round playoff victory. Pork
returned to the lineup for the first time in nearly two months, and skated and
played like he did not miss a game, way to go Pork! Tom Godon scored the first
goal of the game on a breakaway a little over 4 minutes into the game. Michael
Booth added another first period goal putting the Vudoos up 2-0 at the end of 1.
Michael Booth and Greg Brand both added goals in the second period to put the
Vudoos up 4-0. The Rink Rats spoiled the shutout two minutes into the third
period, but Godon and Booth added one more each giving Michael Booth a hat
trick. JR Booth only managed one minor penalty in the game, but that combined
with his 34 regular season PIM, have him considering hiring a decorator for the
penalty box and
possibly adding a bathroom!
June 11, 2008: This one started as a battle of shooters, then turned into a defense and goaltending battle. After a total of 10 goals in the first period, (Vudoos 6, Puck Pimps 4) the rest of the game was played much more defensively. The Puck Pimps scored with 9:18 left in the third to get within 1, but the Vudoos put it away on an empty net goal by JR Booth with 29 seconds left in the game. The Vudoos finished in second place for the Spring season and ended 7-1-2. The Vudoos had 92 penalty minutes in just 10 games and still only lost 1 game, with over 1/3 of the PIM (34 total) going to JR Booth, and Charlie Amann was not far behind that with 26! All in all a great season. Our first playoff game will be Monday June 16th at 8pm.
June 1, 2008: The Vudoos put together another impressive win on Sunday. Greg Brand and Michael Booth scored in the first period giving the Vudoos a 2-0 lead. RAT added another less than one minute later. The third period the Vudoos added 4 more, with goals from Michael Booth (2nd of the game), Charlie Amann, and two from Tom Godon. With 6 unanswered goals, the Vudoos went on to win it 8-2. There is one game remaining in the season, a win will give the Vudoos a lock on first place for Spring 2008. Next game is Wednesday June 11th at 9:40pm vs. The Puck Pimps.
May 27, 2008: The Vudoos are now 5-1-2 and have moved into first place. Goals by JR Booth and Chris Melichone were enough to seal a 2-1 victory over the Sewer Rats. JR Booth and Charlie Amann combined for 28 PIM in the game each receiving 4+10 on separate incidents. The two line mates now lead the team with 26 PIM each in the battle for the ultimate Vudoo Bad Boy! Amann hold a slight edge tallying his 26 PIM in 6 games played vs. JR's 7 games played. This night saw the return of stuntman Pork Bothers. Pork was on hand to cheer the Vudoos to victory, and will hopefully be back for he playoffs in two weeks. There are now only 2 games remaining in the 2008 Spring season, after which we need to set our sites on The OOFF! who have won the last three championships. Next game is Sunday June 1st at 8:45pm vs. The Mighty Perch.
May 16, 2008: The Vudoos met the Moose for the first time, and aside from a couple of times that the Moose were able to get within a goal, the Vudoos dominated the game winning 9-5. Chris Melchione got it started 43 seconds into the game, and the Vudoos never relinquished the lead, scoring 6 in the third period to put it away for good. This was the second of two meeting between the Vudoos and OOFF! for spring, both resulting in a tie. Next game is Thursday May 15th at 9:45pm vs. Moose.
May 4, 2008: Our unbeaten streak was ended at 4 games by the Puck Pimps. The Puck Pimps scored just 19 seconds into the game. But the Vudoos battled back scoring the next two. The Pimps pulled ahead with 16 seconds remaining in the second period, and that goal would end up being all they needed, as the Vudoos were unable to find the back of the net for the remainder of the game. The Pimps added another in the third and ended our streak with a 4-2 loss. Next Game is Saturday May 10th - 9:00pm.
April 30, 2008: With only 10 skaters, The injury plagued Vudoos held on to beat the Rink Rats 5-4, and remain undefeated through 4 games. But the sustained Vudoo forecheck was able to keep the puck in the Rink Rats end for the last 1:13 of the game taking away any chance of the Rats tying the game. Next game is Sunday May 4th at 9:00pm vs. Puck Pimps.
April 23, 2008: With a 7-2 win over the Mighty Perch, the Vudoos are still unbeaten for Spring 2008. Once again playing solid hockey, the Vudoos continue their offensive assualt. April 15, 2008: The Vudoos fought back from a 2 goal deficit in the third period to tie OOFF! 5-5. The Vudoos second goal came short handed, when goalie Pete Peterson came way out and executed a perfect fake clearing attempt, fanning on the clear, which resulted in a breakout pass from virus infected Tom Thrun to George Dimock who slipped it by the OOFF! goalie. The Vudoos trailed the OOFF! until early in the second period, when Tom Godon scored on a perfect pass from George Dimock from behind the net, tying the game at 3 all. The OOFF! scored 2 more making it a 5-3 game. But the Vudoos fought hard on a goal from JR Booth to get it within one, then Gary Len scored on a power play with 1:37 remaining to tie it at 5. That's when the Vudoos opened it up, scoring just 20 seconds after the Rats second goal, and we never looked back. Handing the Rink Rats an 8-2 loss. The game winner was scored by new comer Michael Booth. Pork later added a second goal of the games moving him into a 3 way tie for the goal scoring lead. Pork, Michael Booth, and Gary Len all had 3 goal games, and JR Booth had 4 assists on the night. RAT wasted no time taking the PIM lead this season as well. Next game is Tuesday April 15th - 8:00pm vs. OOFF!
March 17, 2008: The Vudoos took a 3-1 lead into the third period, but could not hold on. The Mighty Perch who went 1-23 in the regular season, have found new life in the playoffs. The Perch scored 4 in the third period and out hustled the Vudoos for the win. This loss brought the Vudoos Fall/Winter season to an end. The Vudoos are doing a little rebuilding for Spring and will be back with our eye on the Spring Championship that we came so close to winning last year. Thanks to everyone for another great season. See you in April.
March 13, 2008: The Vudoos lost their first playoff game to the Sewer Rats, as illness and injury leave Vudoos with a short bench.

Game 2 is Thursday night March 13th - 9:40pm vs. The Sewer Rats.
March 6, 2008: The Vudoos were shut out by the Sewer Rats in the final game of the regular season, 2-0. Thanks to Vudoo goalie, Pete Peterson, the game was not 6-0. March 2, 2008: The Vudoos played a with aggressive forechecking forcing many turnovers, the backchecking and penalty killing was outstanding as well. Scoring came from JR Booth, Pork Bothers, Jason Simon, and an empty net goal by Kurt Seidel put it away for good. Pork Bothers got a power play goal with 5:35 remaining in the first period, this would prove to be the game winning goal. Pork is an inspiration to us all, at 71, now has 5 goals and 5 assists on the season. I guess finally getting that new fangled electricity thing installed so he could have a computer and see his stats, has brought out the best in him! Goalie Pete Peterson continued his excellent play, and shut down the few chances the Rink Rats had. The win gave the Vudoos the edge in the season series vs. the Rink Rats, finishing 2-1-3. Next, and FINAL regular season game is Thursday March 6th - 9:40pm vs. Sewer Rats.
February 27, 2008: For the third time this season the Vudoos and Rink Rats ended in a tie. The Vudoo-Rink Rat series is all even at 1-1-3 with one game remaining between the two teams. The Vudoos and Rats took a 0-0 tie into the third period when Vudoos defenseman Pat Morrison went end to end and put the puck past the Rink Rat goalie, aided by a screen in front by Tom Godon. The Vudoos looked like they would hold onto the lead until the 2:55 mark of the third period when an unchecked Rink Rat player spoiled the shutout from close range putting a rebound past Vudoo goalie Pete Peterson. February 10, 2008: The Vudoos took advantage of a 3 minute power play late in the third period when Tom Godon scored with 1:26 remaining to tie the score at 2. The power play was the result of Pork Bothers taking a hooking penalty, then he took a punch to the head from the player he hooked, drawing a 5 minute major on the Rink Rat player. Godon also scored the first goal of the game giving the Vudoos the early lead. But the Rink Rats scored in the first and second period giving them the lead for a good portion of the game. Rat padded his PIM leader stat with a tripping penalty in the third period. Next game is Friday February 15th - 10:35pm vs. Rink Rats again!
February 1, 2008: For the 5th time this season the Vudoos out played The NOT SO Mighty Perch. The line of Godon, Bothers, and Seidel lit up the score board in this one. Pork doubled his point total this season, scoring two goals, his second was scored on an empty net but only after agressive forechecking to take the puck away from a Perch player. Pork also assisted on two others. Kurt Seidel scored the first goal of the game and assisted on three. Tom Godon scored on a 1 timer from the high slot on a perfect centering pass from Amann. The Vudoos went on a power play with 28 seconds remaining, and pulled goalie Pete Peterson giving us a 6 on 4. RAT activated the laser and blew one past the Perch goalie for just inside the blue line to get the game winner with 4:56 remaining in the second period. The "unofficial" speed of RATs shot, show it was clocked at a full 16MPH. Charlie Amann lead the team with 3 goals and an assist, and the Godon, Amann, & Booth line combined for 10 points in the game. All three lines contributed to the goal scoring as well as the defense with goals from Tom Thrun and RAT. Goalie Pete Peterson made some amazing pad saves with the pads up over his head while lying on the ice. If the Vudoos continue to play heads up hockey as they did in this one, we are in good shape to make a run for the Championship. Next Game is Sunday January 20th - 10:10pm vs. Rink Rats.
January 3, 2008: With only 1 win in our last 9 games, the Vudoos we looking to get back on track. Things did not look good in pre-game warm ups as RAT tried skating away from the bench with the puck bag wrapped around his skate, comedic genius!...Where's a video camera when you need one! The Perch scored at 14:20 of the first period, but Jason Simon tied it just 59 seconds later. Goals by Kurt Seidel in the second period, and JR Booth in the third ensured the Vudoos first win in 4 games, and only our second in the last 10. A great way to start off the new year. November 12, 2007: It was a big win for the Vudoos, as we out-skated the Mighty Perch all game. Jason Simon recorded a hat trick, Kurt Seidel had 4 assists and Tom Godon had 2 goals and an assist to highlight this impressive win. Pork Bothers' assist on one of Godon's goals gave him points in 2 consecutive games, pretty damn impressive for a guy born nearly 3/4 of a century ago! next game is Sunday November 18th - 9:10pm vs. Sewer Rats.
November 9, 2007: No news, team reporter was on vacation. Game was a loss to OOFF! 8-3.
October 28, 2007: It was more or less a goaltending battle. As neither the Vudoos or Rink Rats could get more than one past the opposing goalie. The Vudoos played a very good defensive game and were able to hold off many Rink Rat attacks. Vudoo goalie Peter Peterson was the star of the game and kept us in it throughout the game. Jason Simon scored the only Vudoo goal at 9:09 of the first period. The Rink Rats ties it with 1:15 remaining in the second period, and that is the way the game ended. Next game is Friday November 9th - 10:40pm vs. OOFF!
October 21, 2007: Vudoo players are not only having trouble finding the net, a good number seem to be having difficulty finding the rink! Despite having only 10 skaters, the Vudoos once again were able to control the third period, which has been by far our best period all season. But as in past games, playing catch-up in the third period has been difficult. Tom Godon scored in the second period, JR Booth, and Greg Brand scored in the third. Unfortunately the Sewer Rats scored once in the first period and 4 times in the second period, downing the Vudoos 5-3. This was the Vudoos 4th loss of the season and the third loss to the Sewer Rats. Next game is Sunday October 28th - 8:45pm vs. The Rink Rats.
October 10, 2007: Despite a better quality of play by the Vudoos, we were unable to match the four goals by the Sewer Rats. The Vudoos played a much smarter game, with a good back check, good offensive pressure, and great penalty kills. First period goals by Tom Godon and Kurt Seidel, and some really big saves throughout the game by Pete Peterson kept the game close at all times. Our next game is Sunday October 21st - 9:30PM vs. Sewer Rats.
October 4, 2007: This one was not pretty, as the Vudoos were handed a big loss by the OOFF! Two goals by Kurt Seidel, and one each from Jason Simon and Tom Godon were just not enough offence to even make this one close. Every time the Vudoos would get within 2 and it looked like a come back was brewing the OOFF! managed to score another. In the end we suffered a 9-4 loss. The Vudoos were clearly hurt by the absence of Charlie Amann, JR Booth, Ron Rizzo, and Ted Sweeney. Next Game Wednesday October 10th - 10:30pm vs. Sewer Rats. Let's regroup and take it to 'em boys!
September 30, 2007: The Vudoos returned to form as they took control of the game despite taking 6 penalties. The Vudoos matched the number of penalties by scoring 6 goals. The Rink Rats scored the only first period goal, but Tom Godon answered back with a second period power play goal on a centering pass from JR Booth. Jason Simon and Kurt Seidel added second period goals as well. The eventual game winner was scored by Godon who was taken down on a break away, but still managed to score while sliding on his stomach. Charlie Amann and Greg Brand added third period goals, and the Vudoos went on to win 6-3. The new lines worked well tonight, we'll keep them this way, and hopefully we will continue with a formidable offence, and the excellent back checking. Next Game Thursday October 4th - 10:30pm vs. OOFF!
September 23, 2007: The Vudoos suffered their first loss of the season 5-2 to the Sewer Rats. Not much to be said on this game, other than we were out played through out most of the game. Next Game Sunday September 30th - 8:00PM vs. Rink Rats.
September 17, 2007: Charlie Amann scores 4, and Jason Simon nets a hat trick in 10-4 domination of the Mighty Perch. Sorry, I accidentally deleted the original game summary!!
September 13, 2007:
The Vudoos have opened the fall season in style with a 5-1win over the
2007 summer season champions the OOFF! The OOFF! took a 1-0 lead early in the
first, but that was all they were able to get by Vudoo goalie Pete Peterson. The
Vudoos went on to score 5 unanswered goals, two in the second and three in the
third. The Vudoos played with confidence and the 5 goals came from 5 different
players.
Next game is Monday September 17th - 10:40PM vs. The Mighty Perch.
June 25, 2007: Well guys...We didn't win it all, but it was sure
fun trying. Thanks to all for a great season. I have already received many
replies for the fall and with the return of Rick Anderson and Kurt Seidel, plus
the addition of Charlie Amann, the Vudoos Fall/Winter team is looking like the
best ever. Have a great summer...See you in September!! Tom G.
June 23, 2007: Game
2 did not go as planned. The Vudoos 8 skaters were no match for the Rink Rats in
this one, and we lost in a big way. The final score was 7-1. Pork Bothers
suffered a broken and badly cut finger late in the second period, but was able
to continue. Bothers is unsure if he can play on Monday night, but assured us
that he will be there if he can play or not.
FINAL GAME IS MONDAY JUNE 25TH AT 8:15PM June 21, 2007: Game
1 of the finals was the Dimock & Peterson show...George Dimock scored all 3
goals in the 3-0 win vs The Rink Rats. Vudoo goalie Pete Peterson put on an
unbelievable performance stopping all 31 of Rink Rats shots, coming up with some
HUGE saves. JR Booth found a new way to stay of of the penalty box...he wasn't
there! The whole Vudoo team fore checked and back checked for the entire game
and forced many turnovers. The Vudoos are now one win away from the Spring
Championship. GAME 2: Saturday June
23rd. 7:15PM.
June 16, 2007: The
Vudoos put together an impressive performance for a 8-2 first round playoff
victory. The Vudoos had a team high 60 shots on goal. George Dimock, JR Booth,
and Tom Godon each had two goals, with Pork Bothers and Jason Simon getting one
each. The win puts the Vudoos in the finals,
GAME 1 THURSDAY JUNE 21st 8:45PM. June 13, 2007: The
Vudoos 2007 regular spring season ended in a 4-2 loss to the Perch, and a second
place tie with the Perch as well. With 2:06 remaining a fight broke out at
center ice resulting in a game misconduct for Charlie Amann. The good news is,
that Perch Ex-Con Ridley will also be serving a 1 game suspension
and will not be playing in our first round play-off game against the Perch. The
Vudoo goals were scored by Amann and Sweeney.
Next game: Play-off game 1 - Saturday June 16th
8:15PM. June 10, 2007:
Brand and Godon scored for the Vudoos, and although the winning streak ends at 2
games, our undefeated streak is alive at 3. JR Booth managed to pretty much
locked down the PIM title for the spring season posting 14 penalty minutes in
the game. After a long layoff, Kevin Colgan retured and put up an assist on
Brand's goal, apparently the skating lessons paid off! Pork Bothers got his
second assist of the season on Brand's goal as well. George Dimock earned his
team leading 12th point of the season on a long center ice pass to Godon who put
it passed the Sewer Rat goalie to put the Vudoos up 2-1. The Sewer Rats managed
a third period goal to even things up at 2.
Next game (the final regular season game) is Wednesday June 13th 9:55PM vs.
The Mighty Perch. May 30, 2007: The
Vudoos played a great game with 2 goals by George Dimock, one from Pat Morrison,
and the game winner by Jason Simon. Godon added a short handed empty netter to
finish off the Rink Rats with a 5-3 win.
Next Game is Sunday June 10th 8:30PM vs.
The Sewer Rats. May 19, 2007: JR
Booth and Charlie Amann took charge and dominated in this one. Both JR and
Charlie had two goals and two assists by feeding each other perfect passes in
front of the Perch goal. George Dimock got the Vudoos going with a goal early in
the first when he received a perfect pass from Greg Brand. After that it was all
Booth and Amann. The only penalty in the game went to Dimock for hooking a
Perch! Next Game is Wednesday may 30th
at 10:15PM vs. Rink Rats Bring $$ to support the JR Booth Fight Fund!!! May 10, 2007: The
Vudoos just could not get going in this one, and were handed a big 6-1 loss by
the Perch. Next Game is Saturday May
19th at 6:30PM vs. The Mighty Perch. May 4, 2007: The
Vudoos can't seem to get by the OOFF! this Spring. The 2 goals by Charlie Amann,
and 1 by George Dimock were just not enough, as the OOFF! scored 2 in each
period handing the Vudoos a 6-3 loss.
Next Game is Thursday May 10th 9:55PM vs. The Mighty Perch. April 26, 2007:
Once again the Vudoos out skated and out played the Sewer Rats. The Vudoos
scored 4 times in the first, on goals from Dimock, Godon, Len, and Brand. With a
comfortable 4-0 lead the Vudoos allowed two goals in the second period making it
a 4-2 game. Godon added 2 more in the third on perfect setup passes from Dimock,
and the Vudoos went on to win 6-2. Next
game is Friday May 4th 8:30PM. April 18, 2007: Not
a whole lot to write about for this one. Vudoos lose 4-0 despite many scoring
opportunities. JR Booth and two Rink Rats received 5 minutes for fighting and a
game misconduct near the end of the third period, after a collision with goalie
Pete Peterson. Rink Rat #2 who before the game promised a cleaner season was
tossed for punching JR in the back of the head several times. JR, not knowing
who did it, turned around and hit #23, #23 then hit JR back. The referees stated
afterwards that no major penalties or misconducts would have been given if #2
did not start it. And so goes our recent history with the Rink Rats. Next game is Thursday April 26th 8:05PM vs. Sewer
Rats. April 15, 2007: For
the first two periods the Vudoos were able to hold the OOFF! to one goal. The
OOFF! then added 3 in the third period to the Vudoos 1 third period goal by Gary
Len, handing the Vudoos their first loss of the season 4-1. April 9, 2007:
The Vudoos started off the Spring season in style, by shutting out the
Fall-Winter champion Sewer Rats 2-0. Pete Peterson kept the Vudoos in the game
by stopping all 21 of the Sewer Rats shots. Tom Godon scored in the first period
and George Dimock added the second Vudoo goal in the second period. The Vudoos
played arguably the best game I have seen them play. They moved the puck well,
and did a fantastic job of both fore checking and back checking. The Vudoos
welcome back George Dimock and Ted Sweeny, and also welcome new player Charlie
Amann. Next Game is
Sunday April 15 - 8:45PM vs. OOFF!
March 15, 2007:
The Vudoos fought back from 1 goal deficits twice on goals by Kevin Colgan,
(Thursday nights locker room funny man), and Kurt Seidel. After a 5 minute
overtime period the game was supposed to go to a shootout, but a referee error
in a previous game forced a second overtime period. The Vudoos fought hard
a missed on several chances, and just as it looked like we were going to a
shootout, it all came crashing down with just 24 seconds remaining in the second
overtime period as the Perch were able to stuff one past goalie Pete Peterson.
The Vudoos had some healthy scratches for the game, most notably Jason Simon,
who was reported last seen at a Celine Dion concert in Las Vegas. Well, that's
it for the Fall/Winter season. See you in the Spring.......
March 11, 2007:
The Vudoos out skated, out shot, and simply out played the Rink Rats to keep
their championship hopes alive. Tom Godon scored with 8:40 left in the first
period to put the Vudoos up 1-0. The Rink Rats answered back with 3:47 left in
the first. But 1 minute 55 seconds later Godon scored again to put the Vudoos up
2-1. Kurt Seidel added 1 in the second period, and Godon got his third goal with
2:07 left in the game. Next Game Thursday
March 15 - 10:00PM vs The Mighty Perch.
March 5, 2007: It's do or die for the Vudoos. After
losing the first round game to The Mighty Perch 8-4, we now must win on Saturday
to keep our championship hopes alive.
Round 2 game is Saturday March 10 - 8:00PM.
February 27, 2007:
For the first time in a while the Vudoos did not take a single penalty, but it
did not help as the OOFF! handed us a 5-3 loss in the final game of the regular
season. Playoffs begin March 4th, our
schedule has yet to be determined, but we
should be playing the Rink Rats. The Vudoos had a 3-3 record vs. the Rink Rats
this season.
February 21, 2007:
Round 2 of the Vudoos vs. Rink Rats battle goes to the Vudoos. The Vudoos
took a 1-0 with 1:53 left in the first period on a goal from Rick Anderson. Tom
Godon scored 11 seconds later putting the Vudoos up 2-0. The Rink Rats scored 1
in the second making it a 2-1 game. Gary Len added a third for the Vudoos
putting us up 3-1. The Rink Rats scored 1 more, but the Vudoos were able to hold
on for the 3-2 win. The penalty kill was awesome tonight, as the Vudoos had to
play 4 minutes and 31 seconds short handed, as Jason Simon was given a 5 minute
major and game misconduct early in the third period. This was the second game
misconduct for a Vudoo player in two games. Godon took an interference penalty
with 1:31 left in the game. The penalty kill was again awesome, and as he has
done so many times in the past, goalie Pete Peterson save the game for us with
some spectacular saves. Next and final
regular season game is Tuesday February 27th at 9:55PM vs. OOFF!
February 19, 2007:
Rumor has it that the WWF has been trying to contact Kurt Seidel after hearing
about his performance Monday night. The only thing missing were the ropes for
Kurt to climb on before pouncing on his opponent! Trailing 4-2, we tried pulling
goalie Pete Peterson with 1:45 remaining in the game, but the plan backfired,
and Peterson let in an empty net goal! All kidding aside, although the score did
not reflect it, it was a hard fought game.
February 11, 2007:
Greg Brand scored twice, giving the Vudoos 1-0 and 2-1 leads. Substitute goalie
Andrew Mosuly made some huge saves to keep the game close. But the Sewer Rats
were able to beat Mosuly twice in the second period and again in the third to
take a 4-2 win. Next games are Monday
February 19th - 10:30PM and Wednesday February 21st - 10:40PM, both vs. the Rink
Rats.
February 5, 2007:
Kurt Seidel lead the Vudoos with 4 goals and 2 assists on the night, but it was
Pork Bothers with the game winner on a beautiful centering pass from Kevin
Colgan with 1:16 remaining in the second period. Seidel scored again with just
36 seconds left in the second period, and the Vudoos took a 5-0 lead into the
third. The Perch scored three unanswered goals in the first 2 minutes and 20
seconds of the third, but the Vudoos tightened up their play and shut down the
Perch for the rest of the game. The Vudoos also added three more goals in the
third giving them a well earned 8-3 victory. Next Game Sunday February 11 - 9:40PM vs. Sewer
Rats.
January 28, 2007:
Gary Len had the hot hands in this one, getting a Hat Trick and an assist for a
4 point game. The Vudoos took a 4-2 lead into the second period, and a 6-4 lead
into the third. Going into the third period it looked as if it would be an easy
win. But the Rink Rats scored 4 in the third and held the Vudoos scoreless. As a
team, the Vudoos out-played the Rink Rats all game. If not for Rink Rat #2 who
had 7 of the 8 goals, the Vudoos would have had an easy game. The Vudoos went
undefeated for the month of December, and now winless for the month of January.
With 5 games in February, we need to pull it together to make a playoff run. We
have beat every other team this season, so there is no reason we cannot be
contenders for the Championship. Next Game Monday February 5 - 9:55PM vs. The
Mighty Perch.
January 22, 2007:
The Vudoos were unable to shut down the OOFF! offense, as the OOFF! score 4
times in the first and once each in the second and third periods. The Vudoos
were able to get on the board in the second period with goals from Greg Brand
and J.R. Booth, Rick Anderson added another in the third period. Making it a 6-3
final. Tempers flared in the third period when the OOFF!'s #27 began taking much
more obvious than usual cheap shots at the Vudoo players. After taking a run at
Hoth and ending up on the ice in what looked like a lot of bad acting of a knee
injury, #27 got up and basically erupted in multiple profanities towards the
Vudoo players. #27 continued off the ice in a very un-sportsman like conduct,
yelling profanities and threats towards Hoth and goalie Pete Peterson. Next game Sunday January 28 9:40PM vs. The Rink
Rats.
January 14, 2007:
The Sewer Rats took a 1-0 lead just 2 minutes and 13 seconds into the game, but
the Vudoos scored 4 unanswered goals (3 in the first period 1 in the second
period) to go up 4-1. The sewer Rats then scored 1 more in the second making it
a 4-2 game. The Sewer Rats kept the pressure up, well, #37 did as he added 2 in
the third to tie the game at 4-4. The Vudoos were able to hold off the Sewer
Rats for the rest of the game, but were unable to score despite many chances,
including hitting the post/cross bar 3 times. Pete Peterson had a great game
making some spectacular saves and keeping the game close. Next game Monday January 22 - 9:55PM vs. OOFF!
January 7, 2007:
After a winning 3 straight, and going undefeated in 4 straight, the Vudoos
fell to the Perch 7-4. Overall it was a well played game, but the 6 Vudoo
penalties hurt the offensive effort, as the Perch scored 4 power play goals.
Defenseman and team captain, Tom Thrun showed amazing offense prowess
going end to end twice and scoring on both efforts. Tom's offensive efforts
sparked what looked like a come back for the Vudoos, but two Vudoo penalties
with 1:47 remaining in the game killed all offensive hope.
Next game Sunday January 14 - 8:55PM vs. Sewer Rats.
December 21, 2006:
The curse that has been haunting Fred Hoth and The Vudoos all season has finally
been broken. This game marked the first win with Hoth in the game. The RAT made
his season debut and got two assists on the night. The Vudoos held on to beat
the OOFF! 3-2. All three Vudoos goals were scored by Tom Godon, giving Godon his
second Natural Hat Trick in three games. It was the Vudoos 3rd win in a row, and
4th straight unbeaten. The Vudoos are undefeated for the month of December! Pete Peterson returned to the goal after being out one
game with a knee injury, and he performed superbly making some huge saves to
protect the lead all game. The entire Vudoo team played a great game, things are really
coming together going into the holiday break, let's keep it rolling! Next game: January 7th 9:50PM vs. The Mighty
Perch.
December 17, 2006: Hoth was out again, Vudoos win again, I'm sensing a pattern here!
Another great effort by the Vudoos. Brand, Godon, and Anderson all scored to
lift the Vudoos to a 3-2 win over The Rink Rats. The Vudoos played a very
disciplined game, the defense was solid and the back-checking by the offense was
a great help in holding off The Rink Rats. Most notably was Greg Brand's
back-checking effort with less than a minute to go in the game, where he dove
head first towards the boards knocking the puck away from a Rink Rat player who
would have had a great scoring chance. Dean Bogner filled in for goalie Pete
Peterson, who was sidelined with a knee injury. Peterson is listed as day to
day. Next Game: Thursday December 21 -
9:55PM vs. OOFF!
December 14, 2006:
First we'll get the obvious out of the way...Hoth was out, Vudoos win, curse
continues. Now for the game details...Godon scored a natural Hat Trick
netting the first three Vudoo goals, all three on Power Plays.
Showing great puck control, Rick Anderson scored on a second period Penalty
Shot. Gary Len got the game winner when he broke a 4-4 tie in the third period.
Kurt Seidel put the game away with 5:09 left, as the Vudoos went on to win 6-4.
Next Game: Sunday December 17 - 10:15PM
vs. The Rink Rats.
December 3, 2006:
After a fast start and an eventual 4-1 lead, the Vudoos could not hold off the
Perch and had to settle for a 4-4 tie. The game marked the first of the season
where Fred Hoth played and the Vudoos did not lose. Congrats Fred!!! Game
highlights included some spectacular save by Pete Peterson and Kurt Seidel's
second short handed goal of the season.
Next game is Thursday December 14 11:05PM vs. Sewer Rats.
November 22, 2006:
Well, not much to say 'bout this one...Happy Thanksgiving!! Next game Sunday December 3rd. 9:45PM.
November 15, 2006:
Pete Peterson made some huge saves to keep the Vudoos in the game. With a
few more skaters, it would have been a different game, as the Vudoos played
tough all night and a lot of back-checking and blocked shots by our offense,
along with Pete's performance kept us in the game all night. The game ended in a
3-1 loss, so the curse of Fred may finally be broken. The curse will be
put to the test again on Wednesday November 22nd. at 10:30PM vs. OOFF!.
November 12, 2006:
For the superstitious out there, "The Curse of Fred Hoth" was further proven
against the Sewer Rats. This was the fourth game that Hoth has missed this
season, and the fourth win for the Vudoos, it also marked the first Vudoo win
against the Sewer Rats this season. Down 4-2 in the third period, Kurt Seidel
scored a short handed goal on a breakaway. From that point on the Sewer Rats
seemed to be out of synch. J.R. Booth scored his first of the season to tie the
game at 4. Godon scored the game winner with 3:53 remaining on a heads up pass
from Pork Bothers. Despite getting up at 3am to fly home from Florida, Pete
Peterson once again made some huge saves to keep the game close. The Sewer Rats
pulled their goalie, but the Vudoos great defensive work held them off, the
final score was Vudoos 5 Server Rats 4.
Next game is Wednesday November 15th at 10:00pm vs. The Rink Rats.
November 2, 2006:
The GAS Line exploded! Godon(4 goals-1 assist), Anderson(2 goals-2 assists),
and Seidel(1 goal-5 assists) combined for 15 points, but despite the effort,
the Vudoos fell to the Mighty Perch 9-8. The Vudoos fell behind early, but one
minute later Fred Hoth scored his first goal of the season tying it at 1-1. The
Perch then scored 3 more and took a 4-1 lead. The Vudoos then scored three in a
span of 1 minute 10 seconds to close out the first period in a 4-4 tie.
The Perch scored two more in the second giving them a 6-4 lead going into the
third period. The Vudoos scored early in the third, but the Perch added 3 more
in the third giving them a 9-5 lead. But the Vudoos fought back scoring 2 more
goals in 25 seconds, then they pulled the goalie and added 1 more with 1:45
remaining making it a 9-8 game. A missed off-side call on the Perch with about
25 seconds remaining took away the last chance of tying the game. Next game is Sunday November 12th at 10:00PM vs. The Sewer
Rats.
October 26, 2006: After taking a
1-0 lead into the second period, and a 1-1 tie into the third period, the Vudoos
could not hold off the OOFF!s offensive effort in the third period. The Vudoos
dominated the first period and controlled the puck well, Jason Simon scored just
4 minutes into the game, with assists coming from Godon and Anderson. The game
ended with a 4-1 Vudoo loss. Next game is Thursday
November 2 at 10:25PM.
October 19, 2006:
This time the Sewer Rats gave us a goalie to shoot at but we still only managed
10 shots on goal. The Vudoos lost to the Sewer Rats for the second time this
season, this time it was 6-0. Pork Bothers managed to get the Vudoos only stat
for the game, a two minute slashing penalty in the third period, which was then
followed by a stick throwing fit of rage. Unfortunately the stick was thrown
into his own bench, Greg Brand was hit, but not injured. Not much else
to say about this one. next game is Thursday October 26th at 10:25PM vs. OOFF!
October 15, 2006: The
Vudoos won their 3rd game of the season, beating the Rink Rats 6-5. Rick
Anderson scored three goals including the eventual game winner. Anderson has
scored all 3 game winning goals. The Vudoos played well throughout the game, and
only had 8 skaters to the Rink Rats 12. Greg Brand, not only managed to stay out
of the penalty box, but also got a goal and an assist. Brand still leads the
Vudoos in PIM with 8. The Vudoos even killed off a 2 minute 5 on 3 when Anderson
and Godon both took penalties at the same time for two unrelated incidents. The
Vudoos took a penalty with 1:50 to go in the game, the Rink Rats pulled their
goalie but the Vudoos managed to hold off the 6 on 4 and take the win. The
game also marked the official return of Jason Simon, who had a great game on
defense. Next game is Thursday October 19 at 10:50PM
against the Sewer Rats.
October 11, 2006: The 4-3 loss
to The Sewer Rats does not look as bad on paper as it did in the game. Godon,
Seidel, and Booth scored to get the game tied at three, but The Sewer Rats
scored with just 37 seconds left in the game. The Vudoos pulled the goalie and
put on a sixth attacker in an attempt to tie the game, but did not manage to
score. The Sewer Rats had no goalie, but the Vudoos could not manage to get
enough shots. We'll all try to forget this one and look ahead to Sunday's game
against the Rink Rats. Game time is 10:00PM.
October 5, 2006: Kurt Seidel has
found a comfortable home on the GAS line scoring 3 goals against The Mighty
Perch. Rick Anderson scored his second game winner in as many games, and Godon
added another. Pete Peterson once again stood on his head to make the saves and
held the Perch scoreless until the third period. Greg Brand has retaken his seat
at the top of the PIM leader board with a big night and 6 minutes in the box.
Brand's on ice rage was fueled by an all day celebration of the Tigers victory
over the Yankees, several beers may have also contributed to his actions. Both
teams had a short bench with only 8 skaters, but the Vudoos were the better
conditioned team as they out skated the Perch all night, and out shot the Perch
41-24. Next game is Wednesday
October 11th at 10:25PM vs. the Sewer Rats.
September 27, 2006: The Vudoos
improved their record to 1-1 with a 3-2 victory over the previously undefeated
OOFF!. The "GAS Line" (Godon, Anderson,
Seidel) combined for all three Vudoo goals. Kurt
Seidel tied the game at 1-1 in the first, and then tied the game again at 2-2 in
the second period. Rick Anderson scored the game winner with just 2:33 remaining
in the game on a cross ice pass from Godon. Pete Peterson in his newly custom
fit jersey was spectacular in net allowing just 2 goals on 36 shots. We won't
mention that the second OOFF! goal was off a clearing pass from Peterson who
went into the corner and sent the puck right on to the stick of an OOFF!
player leaving the net wide open....Oops...I guess I did mention it! Next game
is Thursday October 5th at 10:50PM, which will mark the "official" return of
Jason Simon who missed the first game recovering from NMLSS, (No More
Little Simon Surgery). NOTE: Previous game against the
Whalers did not count, stats were adjusted accordingly.
September 25, 2006: In a game
that DID NOT COUNT, the Vudoos were schooled by the B-League
Whalers. The Vudoos were out shot, 52-10 in the 6-0 loss. There is really not
much else to say, other than if it were not for Pete Peterson's acrobatics and
quick catching glove it would have been far worse. The game did mark the return
of Vudoo star right wing Rick Anderson who has not played since "The Nikki
Incident" on May 22nd. On hand in the sell out crowd to watch and drink some
beer was none other than The Rat. The Rat is on the DL until sometime later this
season when he and his blistering slap shot will be a welcome addition to the
lineup. Next game is Wednesday September 27th at 10:25PM vs. OOFF!
September 17, 2006:
Looking good in the new uniforms for the season opener did not help. The Vudoos
fell behind the Perch 1-0 just 11 seconds into the game. With about 5 minutes to
go in the first period, the Perch scored again making it 2-0. But at 4:45, Tom
Godon got the Vudoos on the board with a deflection off a shot from the point
from Fred Hoth. Hoth's hopes of leaving the curse of old number 22 behind look
to be working out. Long live number 3!! With just 49 seconds remaining in the
first period, Kurt Seidel scored on a loose rebound off a couple of close range
shots by Godon. That was the end of Vudoo scoring for the night, as the Perch
added 2 in the second, and 3 in the third. The final score was 7-2. Next game is
Monday September 25 at 11:05PM.
August 22, 2006: Our new jerseys
are in production, and with a little luck, will be ready in time for the first
game, cost is yet to be determined. Speaking of the first game, the Fall/Winter
season is set to begin on September 11, 2006, although the schedule has not been
released. Tom Godon will be attending the Captains meeting on August 28. Cost
for the Fall/Winter season has been increased to $595, which includes insurance
and a BSA issued jersey. Of course we will not need the jersey, so at this time
each player will receive a $15 credit for the Pro Shop. The Fall/Winter season
will be 24 games plus double elimination playoffs.
June 20, 2006: A few soft calls
by the referees and two Power play goals by AA helped put an end to the Vudoos
season in round one of the playoffs. The Alcoholics Anonymous struck first with
a goal at 12:55 of the first period. Tom Godon answered back 35 seconds later
with a wraparound goal. AA scored two more in the first making it a 3-1 game. At
13:23 of the second period, Godon scored his second of the game after blocking a
shot and creating a breakaway for himself. AA came back with another goal just
36 seconds later making it 4-2. At 8:42 of the second The Rat scored on an
blistering 8.5 MPH slap shot from the point, after the puck went tumbling under
the goalie's right leg in what looked like a slow motion replay, it almost
reached the back of the net. AA scored again at 6:07 making it a 5-3 game. Pat
Morrison brought The Vudoos within one goal again just 24 seconds later. AA
added three more in the third period, while the Vudoos could only get one more
with Godon's third of the game on a perfect centering pass from J.R. Booth. The
final score was 8-5. Other important game notes, were the great penalty killing
efforts of Pork Bothers, and great back-checking and fore-checking on the part of
the Vudoo offense. HAVE A GREAT SUMMER, SEE YOU IN
SEPTEMBER. June 14, 2006:
Coming off a win
one week earlier the Vudoos only chance to climb out of the basement was to win
against the Rink Rats. The Rink Rats went up 1-0 at 12:52 of the first
period. Less than one minute later Fred Hoth tied it up with a rare goal against
the opposing goalie. The puck came back to Hoth at the right
point, and with the skill and accuracy of Minnesota Fats on a pool table, Hoth
banked one in off the knee of a Rink Rat defender. Game On...well, no, not
really, as The Rink Rats, or is that "RINGER RATS", went on to score 10 more
unanswered goals. The final score was 11-1. Rumor has it, that the Vudoos were
just building playoff confidence in the rest of the league, and are set to make
an impressive playoff run. After a 2-7-1 regular season, the only question that
remains is, Who's bringing beer to the next game?
June 7, 2006: In what was
certainly not a goalie or defensive battle, the Vudoos won their second game of
the Spring season, and their second 1 goal win against the Mighty Perch. Greg
Brand got things started early with a first period goal at 11:43. The Perch tied
it at 3:46, and took a 2-1 lead at 1:40 of the first period. The Perch went up
3-1, just 52 seconds into the second period. Tom Godon made it a 3-2 game with a
goal at 10:14 of the second. George Dimock scored at 13:25 of the third period
to tie the game. Jason Simon then put the Vudoos out in front 4-3 at 9:38. The
Perch then tied the game. Goals by Pat Morrison and George Dimock gave the
Vudoos a 6-4 lead in the third, but the Perch came back to tie it at 6-6. At
4:16 of the third the Perch took the lead back. Jason Simon tied the game with
2:43 remaining, then at with 2:03 left George Dimock netted his third goal
giving the Vudoos a 8-7 lead and the Vudoos held on for the win. Dimock had the
hat trick plus 2 assists for a 5 point game. The only Vudoo penalty was to PIM
leader Greg Brand, now with 14. In other Vudoo news, Rick Anderson is on the DL
with a broken rib. George Dimock took the point lead with 12, and Tom Godon now
is the scoring leader with 7 goals. The Vudoos need someone to step up and bring
the beer to the final regular season game. This season's beer stats include Tom
G, Jason, George, Ted, Pork, Kevin, and Greg twice. The Curse of Fred has been
broken as the Vudoos won their first game with Fred Hoth in the lineup in quite
some time. There is one regular season game remaining, June 14 - 9:55PM vs. The
Rink Rats.
June 4, 2006: Pete
Peterson returned after surgery and had an outstanding night in goal. The Vudoos
had only 8 skaters, and put together an amazing effort to keep the game close.
The Sewer Rats took the 1-0 lead at 13:56 of the second period on a power play goal.
Patrick Morrison answered back at 7:05 of second period with a shorthanded goal.
The Sewer Rats deflected one past Peterson at 4:53 of the second to take a 2-1
lead. At 8:11 of the third period Morrison scored his second of the night to
even things up at 2. At 7:14 of the third period, The Sewer Rats scored off a
weak shot to the side of the goal that somehow found it's way in, making it a
3-2 game. The Vudoos were out shot 38-14. This was the Vudoos 5th straight loss,
who desperately need to win their final two to climb out of the basement to
secure a better playoff spot.
May 22, 2006: The OOFF! scored 2
in the first period and 2 in the second period and handed the Vudoos their 4th
straight loss. The Vudoo defense held the OOFF! scoreless in the third, and Tom
Godon scored his 6th of the season on a breakaway with an assist going to George
Dimock, who returned to the Vudoo lineup after missing the previous game due to
availability of beer at an earlier hour. Other highlights included The OOFF!'s
Nikki, yes a girl, taking out both Vudoo Captain Tom Thrun, and co-scoring
leader Rick Anderson in two separate incidents. Both Tom and Rick were able to
shake it off and return to play. The Vudoos next game is Sunday June 4th at
9:15PM vs. The Sewer Rats.
May 18, 2006: Tom Godon and Pork Bothers each netted a goal, but
it wasn't enough, as the Vudoos fell to the Alcoholics Anonymous 6-2. The Vudoos
drew first blood at 4:13 of the first period when Godon put the puck past the AA
net minder on a beautiful centering pass by Rick Anderson, the goal was Godon's
5th of the season and Anderson's assist was his 2nd of the Spring season.
Anderson leads the Vudoos in points with 8. At 11:25 of the first period, AA
scored to tie the game at 1. At that point the Vudoo lead was gone for good. AA
put another past substitute goalie Andrew Moguly at 13:34 of the first period.
In the second period AA scored at 1:00, and again at 3:13 making it a 4-1 game.
At 3:52 of the second period, the Vudoos newest goon, Pork Bothers took a
tripping penalty, and AA went on the power play, netting a power play goal at
4:28 of the second period. At 9:31 of the second period, Bothers scored his
first goal of the Spring season. At 13:26 of the second, AA scored their 6th of
the game. No goals were scored in the third period as the Vudoos defense
tightened up, but we just could not find the offence we needed.
